

Lida Suchý, the photographer
Photographing in Ukraine was a way for Lida Suchý to reconnect with her ancestral “terra firma”. She is a first generation American from a Ukrainian refugee family. Lida’s photographs have been widely exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States and Europe and published in National Geographic Magazine, LIFE Magazine and Geo. Her photographs are in the collections of the George Eastman House, the Brooklyn Museum, Biblioteque Nationale in Paris and SF MoMA.
Mišo Suchý, documentary filmmaker
Mišo Suchý was born and raised in Czechoslovakia, in 1988 he moved to the United States. Mišo is on the faculty of the Department of Transmedia at Syracuse University. His films have been screened at Cinema du Reel in Paris, in visiting artist presentations at Yale University, Cornell Cinema, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, and at film festivals in Oberhausen, Edinburgh, Florence, San Francisco (FAF), Krakow, Hamburg, Cinematexas, Athens in Ohio and others. In support of his creative work, Mišo has received grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Pro-Slovakia Foundation, The Boston Film & Video Foundation and the Pro-Helvetia Foundation.
